Skiathos Island

Getting There:

Skiathos is easily accessible by both air and sea. The island has its own Alexandros Papadiamantis International Airport, with regular flights from Athens and other major Greek cities, as well as several European destinations during the summer season. There are also scheduled ferries available from the city of Volos and nearby surrounding islands.

Beaches: With over 60 stunning beaches, Skiathos is best known for its mesmerizing beaches, turquoise waters, and breathtaking scenery.

  • Koukounaries Beach, located at the southwestern corner of Skiathos, offers a mile-long white sand beach with crystal clear seas, surrounded by greenery. It is perfect for sunbathing,swimming, and water sports activities. 
  • Lalaria, on the northeastern side of the island, is known for its turquoise pebble beach, accessible only by boat. It is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece.The scenery is completely different from all the other beaches and definitely worth the visit.
  • Vromolimnos Beach,with calm,shallow waters and a long,sandy beach is perfect for spending a hot summer day. There are bars and restaurants located along the beach, making it a convenient location to spend the day.
  • Megali Ammos Beach: This beach is the closest beach to the houses. There are clear waters and a long sandy beach. The beach is full of bars and high-quality restaurants, making it perfect for a lively day at the sea.
  • Agia Paraskevi Beach: A favorite destination for those looking the balance among relaxation and beach activities.With clear waters and water sports options, this beach is a great choice and is surrounded by some excellent beach bars and restaurants.
  • Mandraki Beach is a serene and secluded beach with unbelievably crystal-clear waters.Mandraki serves the perfect tranquil location for those who wish to steer clear of the crowds.This beach depicts the pure natural beauty of the island.A great plus should considered the cantine, where you could enjoy a cold beer gazing the Aegean Sea.

Nature: Skiathos is covered by a thick and dense pine forest, making it a perfect destination for hikers and cyclists. With several well-marked and maintained hiking paths and biking tracks, Skiathos offers breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea and nearby islands. The island is also home to a number of animal species, including Mediterranean monk seals, dolphins, and sea turtles.

Culture: Skiathos has a rich cultural heritage, with several archaeological sites and historical landmarks. 

The Kastro, situated in the medieval town of Skiathos, is a well-preserved fortress built during the Byzantine era.The ancient city of Kastro offers spectacular views of the Aegean Sea and the surrounding islands.

The Evangelistria Monastery, located in the heart of Skiathos, has long been an important site for Greek Orthodox pilgrims.

The Papadiamanti House Museum is in the heart of Skiathos, which was the house that Papadiamantis grew up and lived with his family.This prolific and influential writer captured the essence of life in Greece, and specially Skiathos, during his time.His work remains popular in Greece and is an important part of the country’s literary history.

Nightlife: Skiathos has a vibrant nightlife environment, particularly in Skiathos Town. Several bars, clubs, and discotheques are open until the first  hours of the morning throughout the summer season. The island also hosts several music festivals throughout the summer season.
